Physical Fitness — The Non-Negotiable Requirement

No matter how well you score in the written test, if you fail the physical test, your application ends there. Physical fitness is an absolute requirement for joining Pakistan's Army, Navy, and Air Force.

Physical Standards by Force

Pakistan Army Physical Test

  • 1.6 km Run: Must be completed in 8 minutes 30 seconds or less
  • Push-ups: Minimum 20 in 2 minutes
  • Sit-ups: Minimum 20 in 2 minutes
  • Chin-ups / Pull-ups: Minimum 3-5
  • Height: Minimum 5'4" (162.5 cm) for most branches
  • Weight: Proportionate to height (BMI based)

Pakistan Navy Physical Test

  • 1.6 km Run: 8 minutes or less
  • Swimming: Basic swimming ability required for some branches
  • Push-ups and Sit-ups: Similar to Army standards
  • Height: Minimum 5'4"

PAF Physical Test

  • 1.6 km Run: 8 minutes or less
  • Push-ups: Minimum 20
  • Sit-ups: Minimum 20
  • Height: Minimum 5'4" for GDP, 5'2" for other branches
  • Eyesight: 6/6 without glasses (critical for GDP)

30-Day Fitness Preparation Plan

If you have one month before your test, follow this plan:

Week 1-2: Building Base

  • Run 1 km daily at moderate pace
  • 10 push-ups, 10 sit-ups, 2 pull-ups (3 sets daily)
  • Stretching and cool-down exercises

Week 3: Increasing Intensity

  • Run 1.6 km daily — aim for under 10 minutes
  • 15 push-ups, 15 sit-ups, 3 pull-ups (3 sets)
  • Add sprinting intervals

Week 4: Test Simulation

  • Run 1.6 km in under 8:30 (simulate actual test)
  • 20+ push-ups, 20+ sit-ups, 5 pull-ups
  • Rest on the day before the actual test

Nutrition Tips

  • Eat protein-rich foods: eggs, chicken, lentils (daal)
  • Stay hydrated: drink 8-10 glasses of water daily
  • Avoid junk food and sugary drinks
  • Eat bananas before running for energy
